How to Hold is a solo exhibition examines the logic of Texas property law through a series of sculptures that explore the impossibility of containment. Drawing on the regulation of the Amistad region of the Rio Grande, the works respond to legal efforts to impose fixed boundaries on land and water. The works are defined by a failure to function: a cage of prisms that can’t hold the sun, and a replica of a TARS border surveillance blimp that leaks air and must be continuously refilled to remain afloat.
